The historic city of York is just ten miles south of Farlington, and amongst it’s wealth of attractions are York Minster, the Jorvik Viking centre, The National Railway Centre, and Clifford’s Tower.

Castle Howard is one of the best and most famous stately homes in England. With it’s inspiring history, and wonderful architecture, it has often been used as a film set for dramas and historical documentaries. However for those of us who want to walk around the grounds, and only catch glimpses of the great house, it is just as enjoyable.

Howardian Hills
The Howardian Hills cover 204 sq km (79 sq miles) of the North Yorkshire countryside, nestled between the North York Moors National Park, the Yorkshire Wolds and the Vale of York.
Hambleton Hills
The Hambleton Hills are a range of hills in North Yorkshire, which begin just north of Farlington. They form the western edge of the North York Moors but are separated from the moors by the valley of the River Rye.
Wine Tasting
An evening of quaffing wine, with the excuse of being sociable, and the vague possibility of adding a smidgin of knowledge to our boozy bumblings.

Continuing Road Closure
The continuing saga of the collapsed culvert and the road closure…
Work is due to commence on 4th June, and according the “Highways Customer Communication Officer”…
“It is anticipated the works will take 5 weeks to complete if all goes according to plan.”
It’s been a long old haul to get the low road fixed, and it seems it may be a while yet before we can trundle happily southwards again.

A circular walk, crossing parkland and through woodland, with wonderful views of the Howardian Hills, the Yorkshire Wolds and the Castle Howard estate.
