We have recently seen a spike in rural crime in the Hambleton area particularly at the north of the county around Great Ayton and Stokesley.

Farming equipment, tools, machinery, off-road bikes, quad bikes and vehicles are being targeted. These have mainly been taken from outbuildings of farms and rural properties.

Road safety advice issued for darker evenings

Now that the clocks have gone back and the nights are drawing in, we would like to remind cyclists, horse riders and pedestrians about the importance of ensuring that they are seen by other road users. 

It comes after we recovered a Toyota Hilux which had been stolen from the Beckwithshaw area of Harrogate. The vehicle, which was fitted with a tracker, is being returned to its rightful owner.

However, two other Toyota Hilux vehicles have also been stolen from our area recently, mirroring a growing trend in neighbouring police force areas, and across the country.

At around 04:00hrs 08/10/2024 unknown person/s have gained access to a residents detached garage on the High Street, Stillington.
