Welcome to Farlington

Farlington field

Farlington is a small, picturesque farming village in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire.

The village has a 12th century church, St. Leonards, a good pub, the Blacksmith’s Arms, and has a small stream, Farlington Beck running through it.

Farlington is ideally situated for a walk in the Hambleton Hills, a visit to Castle Howard, a day out in the historic city of York, or the market town of Malton.

Broadband for Farlington

All of the local residents who have lived in Farlington for more than two years may remember that David carried out a survey of the Broadband speeds that were available to telephone users in our immediate area.  The results were used to reinforce our arguments for a Fibre link from Stillington (or Sherrif Hutton) to Farlington.  The situation has moved on and BT considers that it has fulfilled its commitment to provide HSBB to local rural areas but we do not appear to be receiving the, frequently promised, improved connectivity. Members of the Parish Meeting are attempting to re-energise the work and need current figures to prove that we have no better Broadband than we had 3 or 4 years ago.

Village Hall – Hire

Farlington Village Hall

Farlington Village Hall is a lovely little space with a cosy log fire for those chilly winter evenings. It’s a perfect venue for around 20 people seated, or around 30 standing.

It has various facilities, which include a coffee machine with free coffee, a hot water urn and free tea, various chairs, benches, and tables, free fuel for the fire, and a portaloo.

As well as hosting the annual Parish AGM, the Village Hall has been used for a wide range of less formal events, including pop up summer cafes, christmas carols, pie n’peas night, and the curry night shown below.

So, as you can see the Village Hall is more than capable of adapting to most requirements. The question, is what could you use it for?

Hire charges for the Hall are a paltry £5/hour, with a minimum £10 charge.

To book the hall, please contact secretary@farlington.org.uk.

Do You Have Difficulty Getting to St Leonard’s?

St Leonards mobility scooter

We are well aware that the length and steepness of the church path can make it very difficult for some people to get to services at St Leonard’s. Someone in Stillington has very kindly donated to the church a nearly-new, robust mobility scooter. This is now available for every Sunday service from about 20 minutes before the service is due to start.

Get to the church gate, or thereabouts, and the buggy will do the rest. A member of the church will be with you so you do not have to be an expert in using mobility scooters.
