Macmillan Magic 2025

Many thanks to all those who contributed to a very successful Macmillan Coffee Morning on 26th September. Special mentions to Guy Dunkley who kicked off and co-ordinated the effort; those who donated raffle prizes; our wonderful bakers for producing another scrumptious selection of cakes; the ladies who decorated the venue so beautifully and, not least, Simon &Tracy Lorimer for hosting the event at The Blacksmiths Arms and providing the hot drinks.

This amazing combined effort has raised a whopping £977 for Macmillan.  Many thanks, of course, to all of you who kindly supported the event by attending, we hope you had a wonderful time.  Here’s to a repeat in 2026.

North Yorkshire Citizens Advice & Law Centre (NYCALC)

During the long hot summer, NYCALC has been earnestly preparing for what will be our busiest time of year, autumn and winter.

The shorter and chillier days place far more demand on people’s pockets and see a dramatic increase in people attending our drop-ins, outreach sessions and calling the telephone adviceline. As you will be well aware, everyday living remains expensive with food prices rising and energy bills unpredictable, sadly resulting in hardship for many. Over the last year debt has become an increasingly common problem, with an 18% increase in NYCALC’s cases. We are proud that we have been able to help people tackle this distressing issue constructively and enable £3,288,934 of debt to be written off across the county.
